   Robo Lions In Review-

Here are all of the Robots that team 1261 has built in its short career. Feel free to check them out and ask questions if you need to.

FRC

 Year 2004-

This was the first year of our robotics team. We managed to build a working robot! Although the arm proved quite frail and the robot failed to prove very effective at the game, but it provided many lessons for years to come.

Game Name: Raising the Bar: FIRST Frenzy

 Year 2005-

In only our second year of competition we became regional champions. Allied with the #1 alliance we went 6-0 in the finals and proved to be an unbeatable alliance! Advancing to the Championship at the Georgia Dome, the competition became much tougher and challenging then we first assumed. Through the ranking rounds we went 4-3-0 and failed to make the quarter-finals. This gave Team 1261, our first taste of success but more was sure to follow.

 Game Name: Triple Play
 Awards: Regional Champions

 Year 2006-

Year three was our biggest year yet. We went into the finals of the Peachtree Regional as the number one seed and went on to win the Regional competition!

 Game Name: Aim High
Awards: Regional Champions, Delphi Driving Tomorrow Technology Award, and Underwriters Laboratories Safety Award

 Year 2007-

In our fourth year, we fell slightly short; however, The Robot was ranked as the number one scoring robot at our regional. With a highly effective manipulator and our secret, unobtainable, we were able to over the rack on the 2007 game, Rack N’ Roll. We made it all the way to the semi-finals, but due to our opponents’ defensive tactics, we lost. We start the new season with new hopes and even higher goals for next year’s challenge!

 Game Name: Rack N’ Roll
Awards: Rockwell Automation Innovation in Control Award

 Year 2008-

The FRC team entered into its 5th year.

The FRC had great success at the Peachtree Regional. The team managed a 13th place ranking, and they gladly joined the 2nd seed alliance. The Robo Lions had lots of fun at the competition. Unfortunately, the 2nd place alliance fell short in the semi-finals.

Then, the Robo Lions went onto the Palmetto Regional. At Palmetto the Robo Lions had another grand performance. And, once again, the Robo Lions were selected by the 2nd seed alliance. Much like the Peachtree Regional, the Robo Lions and their alliance were defeated in the Semi-Finals.

Only a month later, the Robo Lions attended the World Championships. This experience was great for many rookies, and veterans who had never been to world. The excitement and energy was amazing. The Robo Lions had 4 win and 3 losses, but they failed to get into the final.

With only a mild taste of success, the Robo Lions look forward to another great season in 2009.

 Game: Overdrive

 Award: Xerox Creativity Award

 Year 2009-

The 6th year proved to be the best year yet. This year our team had a surprising amount of team spirit! With our members holding up letters that say "ROBOLIONS!" and everyone cheering like crazy!

Our team had one of the most successful years in a while. Having little trouble building the robot, we had time to practice with one of our teams best friends, team 1746 Forsyth Alliance, on the practice field they set up. This really strengthened the bond between our teams. Our team is really maturing, and has come a long way since 2004.

Making it to quarter-finals at Peachtree, and semi-finals at Palmetto, we really had a blast getting to see all the hard work we put in to our robot really paying off. As the 2010 season approaches, we are looking forward to taking a big step in the growth of our team to better the future of all students everywhere.

The team also went to World Championships. We were amazed at the success we had! Our team was 5-2-0. The best we have ever done, ranking 19th overall in our division. We unfortunately did not get picked to move on to finals. Our goal for 2010 is to finally be picked for finals at World.

  Game: Lunacy

FTC

Year 2008-

FTC Team 736, the Robo Lions, went to the Georgia Competition. We had a rough day, but things got better towards the end. We got picked by the 8th alliance, team 600, SHIRT. Then, team GSMST Beta joined our alliance. We met some technical difficulties in the quarter finals, and were eliminated then. The Robo Lions look forward to next year, and we invite the changes that FTC will bring.
